Smart has teamed up with JBL to create what they call the world’s smallest mobile concert hall.

Starting with the subcompact Smart fortwo, the companies crafted a mega sound system that has a maximum power output of 5,720 watts. In addition, the Smart forgigs is capable of serving as a mobile amplifier for live concerts by street musicians.

Capable of pushing out sound pressure up to 150 dB, the forgigs features a trio of JBL GTO 804 EZ amplifiers that power the tweeters and mid-range speakers, while a pair of JBL GTO 751 EZ amps power the subwoofers. In total, the two GTO 751 EZ amps send power to four type JBL GTO 609 C loudspeaker sets, each with two tweeters and two mid-range speakers. In addition to the 16 speakers, the rear of the forgigs has two powerful 12-inch subwoofers.

Italian specialist Mosconi contributed to the project with its digital signal processor, which can output via eight channels. The signals can also be transferred from mobile devices and tablets including smartphones by Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP).

The German automaker said that the Smart forgigs is a one-off and won’t be available for sale.
