Jeremy Clarkson To Rival Top Gear : News

The Top Gear that we know and love may be gone forever, but that doesn’t mean Jeremy Clarkson will go gently into that good night. Apparently, the controversial ex-host is already planning a new motoring show to rival the old. Details of the program are currently nonexistent, but the news should come as a relief for fans craving fresh Clarkson-style antics after his dismissal from TG last month.

In a column for the UK publication The Sunday Times, Clarkson wrote, "I have lost my baby but I shall create another. I don’t know who the other parent will be or what the baby will look like, but I cannot sit around any more organizing my photograph album."

Indeed. After all, it’s hard to imagine Clarkson idling his time away with arts and crafts after 12 years of driving high-powered sports cars on television.

The one-time TG presenter was fired from his post in March following an alleged “fracas” with producer Oisin Tymon at a North Yorkshire Hotel, in which Clarkson reportedly verbally abused Tymon and gave him a split lip. Local law enforcement has stated Clarkson will not face police action over the incident.

"Let’s stop being silly and pick up the pieces and start again,” Clarkson told the Times. “I just know I’m going to do another car show."

Clarkson says he doesn’t know who the other parent will be or what the baby will look like, but speaking personally as a TG fan, I think there are a few assumptions that can be made here.

First, Richard Hammond and James May will most likely make appearances, given the fact that both presenters seem unwilling to continue the original show without Clarkson onboard as the third musketeer. Also, there will probably be lots of very fast cars sliding around on race tracks, ridiculous challenges both in the UK and abroad, and plenty of opportunities for Clarkson to grit his teeth and rumble a declaration of “Power!”

And I can’t help but laugh when I think about all the sky-is-falling doomsayers who confidently declared all was lost last month when the whole “fracas” debacle first hit the wires. Of course Clarkson will find a new job. I mean, a guy’s gotta eat, right?
