Both the Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali are equipped with the 6.2-liter V8 engine and new transmission.

GM on Thursday said that the new powertrain is designed to be more fuel-efficient.

"EPA highway mileage estimates for two-wheel-drive Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali models increase to 22 mpg with the eight-speed automatic, while the EPA city mileage estimate for the four-wheel-drive Yukon Denali model rises to 15 mpg," GM said in a statement.

The 2015 GMC Yukon Denali competes with the Infiniti QX80, Lincoln Navigator and Toyota Sequoia Platinum SUVs.
