2015 Dodge Barracuda : Concept Cars

Yep, it’s true. Chrysler’s head design chief and head honcho of the Dodge brand, Ralph Gilles, is seriously thinking about bringing back the Barracuda name plate. Back in the 1970′s you had the Plymouth Barracuda and the Dodge Challenger. Both shared the same platform, but the Cuda’ was always thought to have been the car with the harder edge. Models like the small block powered AAR Cuda’ and the legendary HEMI Cuda’ are cars that are worth big money today, I’m just wondering though that if bringing back the Cuda’ into today’s day and age would be the best thing. First off, the Cuda’ was a Plymouth, a brand that is now dead and buried and second, I feel that the Cuda’ would really need to be a different car all together than the current Challenger.

For instance, if Chrysler could build the Cuda’ it would have to be smaller, lighter and a much better performer than the current Challenger. We know the new 2011 Challenger SRT8 is getting the new 392 HEMI, but I feel for the Cuda’ to come back, it has to be on another level all together as far as performance goes. The last thing Chrysler needs to do is to go back to their old ways of simply building the same cars under different names, i.e., Dodge Durango/Chrysler Aspen, Jeep Liberty/Dodge Nitro and so forth. Hopefully they’ll do the right thing if they actually decide to revive the nameplate, but as of yet we’re only hearing rumors. We’ll keep you up to date if we hear anything further.
