2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Is $59,995 : News

There are new details on the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, and the more it gets fleshed out, the more of a dirty bomb it becomes in the segment. First, there's the room-clearing power output: 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, as previously revealed. Now Chrysler has given us a price tag. That MSRP is $59,995, not including destination or gas-guzzler taxes (which can add up to an additional $3095 for the manual-transmission model).

At just around $60,000, it's $2000 more than a 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe 1LT Z51 (which also has 252 less horsepower, by the way), splits the difference between the 2014 Camaro ZL1 and Z/28 (at 580 hp and 505 hp, respectively), and a little less than $5000 more than the 662-hp Shelby GT500—which is maybe its closest competitor in terms of raw output. That's an interesting spread.

Of course, it's faster than any of those. Dodge is trumpeting its NHRA-certified 10.8-second quarter-mile time on drag radials, and we understand it ran 11.2 in the quarter on street tires. Anything you can drive off the lot, to the tire shop, and then to the drag strip and turn in a sub-11-second pass is impressive by any standard. And for around $60,000, a deal, too.

Now let's just see exactly how much dealer price-gouging occurs when the Hellcat hits the lots. I assume the markups will be as impressive as the output figures.
