Nissan's New Global Pickup Teaser: Videos

Nissan has fired a global-pickup teaser across the bow of the Internet for the second time in a week. Due to be fully revealed on June 11, the truck is previewed this time not by a photo, but an artsy-aggro 30-second video of test footage augmented with pseudo-industrial flourishes.

Although Nissan previously told us this truck has little bearing on our market, we can think of a couple of reasons why it might be worth paying attention to. First, the current Frontier has been kicking around for nearly a decade, and it’s not a great leap to believe that this truck could influence the next Frontier. Second, GM is unleashing the new GMC Canyon/Chevy Colorado twins this year, and the buzz they’re generating indicates there’s still life in the smaller-pickup segment.

As for this global truck, the video reveals it to be anything but soft, as evidenced by the ladder frame construction and solid rear axle with leaf-spring suspension. Nissan is really playing up the durability aspect, too, claiming the truck has undergone more than 1 million kilometers (621,372 miles) of testing in real-world conditions and more than 40,000 quality tests. Color us intrigued.
