2015 Hyundai Sonata : Current Models

Hyundai has lifted the veil off of the new 2015 Sonata at a private event held in South Korea. Aimed at the heart of the highly-competitive mid-size segment, the next Sonata will make its U.S. debut next month at the New York Motor Show.

Marginally longer and wider than the 2014 model, the 2015 Sonata falls in line with Hyundai's latest Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language thanks to a revamped front end with a hexagonal grille inspired by the larger Genesis, a revised bumper and new headlights. Out back, the updates consist of new tail lamps and a redrawn trunk lid, while additional paint colors and alloy wheel designs round out the updates.

The yet-unveiled Sonata Hybrid should once again get its own styling, including model-specific trim pieces and a revised version of the 18-inch Hyper Silver alloy wheels available on the current SE trim level.

The 2015 Sonata is more rigid than the outgoing model thanks to the widespread use of high-strength steel.

The interior adopts a more squared-off design that allows for a larger center console and a more convenient switchgear placement. The 2015 Sonata eschews a fully-digital instrument cluster but gains a configurable TFT screen mounted in between the gauges, and Hyundai's latest infotainment system will be available on all but the lowest trim levels.

In its home country of South Korea, the Sonata will be offered with three four-cylinder engines ranging from 151 to 193 horsepower. Technical details about the U.S.-spec model will be published next month.

After debuting in New York, the 2015 Hyundai Sonata will land in showrooms across the United States next fall.
