2014 Smart Fortwo Edition Citybeam : Current Models

The second-generation Smart Fortwo is on life support, and the only thing keeping it from its having the metaphorical plug pulled is a seemingly never-ending supply of special editions. The umpteenth version of which is the Citybeam, which debuted this morning at the Brussels motor show. Luckily, it’s likely to be one of the last second-gen Fortwos as the third-gen, co-developed with Renault and previewed by the Fourjoy concept, will come to market soon.

Until then, however, Smart must keep up interest in the current model. It does so in this case with the Citybeam special edition, which will be available in standard and convertible forms in markets outside the U.S. Based on the uplevel Passion trim, the Citybeam rolls on three-spoke aluminum wheels; features titanium-tinted headlights; and has a sporty interior comprised of black vinyl seats that boast silver fabric inserts, a two-tone knee pad, and an instrument cluster clad in faux leather.

The European-market Smart Fortwo Citybeam comes with a naturally aspirated 70-hp three-cylinder engine, a turbocharged 83-hp triple, or a 74-hp electric motor. The diesel option, however, has been dropped from the Fortwo’s portfolio.
