2013 Peugeot RCZ R : Current Models

Peugeot has revealed the RCZ R production version ahead of the car's public debut scheduled for this weekend at Goodwood Festival of Speed.

A preview concept was shown at last year's Paris Motor Show and now Peugeot is ready for the production model which is powered by a 1.6-liter THP engine generating 270 bhp (201 kW) at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 330 Nm (243 lb-ft) from 1,900 rpm. It's enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in less than 6 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (249 km/h).

Compared to the RCZ THP 200 bhp which was the previous range-topping model, the R version is 17 kg (37 lbs) lighter so it tips the scales at 1,280 kg (2,821 lbs). Peugeot says the RCZ R can return 44.8 mpg UK (37.3 mpg US or 6.3 liters / 100 km) in the combined cycle and has CO2 emissions of 145 g/km.

It has been lowered by 10mm and rides on 19-inch alloy wheels, while at the back there's a large fixed spoiler providing better downforce. We also notice the bespoke rear diffuser, along with 380mm brake discs mounted on an aluminum hub. The RCZ R makes use of a Torsen differential and it has an engine sound system for a better soundtrack.

The interior cabin has gained Nappa/Alcantara-wrapped bucket seats, smaller steering wheel and gearshift lever with aluminum knob. Exterior paint schemes include Nera Black, Moroccan Red, Opal White and Mercury Grey.

The Peugeot RCZ R will go on sale in early 2014, after being showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
